Reflection

When hearing first hand that we would each be creating title sequence for a specific film I was a little skeptical, I was like “What’s the point when there’s one already?”, then whilst showing us lots of examples of famous title sequences it made me think how creative some title sequences are, and how good it would be seeing my classmates interpretations of the film’s titles. The film choice, “Back To The Future”, was a good choice as it didn’t have a title sequence, well not an epic type of sequence, like for example “Fight Club”, it was very basic and just had the logo fly in from the right and fade to black. This basic sequence was given to us, I’m guessing, so that we could all produce something a lot more creative, as the film is full of vibrant content that could be used to produce a fancy sequence and standalone as the replacement title sequence. Whilst researching title sequences I came across “Spiderman 2” in which I had forgot had this epic and simplistic title sequence, which span over three minutes. We only had just over a minute, and I thought why not try and replicate Spidey’s simplicity. I took still’s from the film and gave them a mosaic look, like in the Spidey titles, I then masked them to the spinning text which was scaled quite large, and moving, while the stills were masked to the text. I then tried to apply an aging process to some of the characters as I introduced them into the sequence, this was quite difficult with the Doc and Marty as their characters didn’t really age that much, well the screenshots didn’t show it anyway. With Lorraine’s character the aging process went pretty well, as her character has a lot of clear ages, and so did George’s character too. Many people liked the aging process thing I was able to interpret in this piece, I just wish it worked with the other characters just as well. Though with that being said and done I was extremely happy with my piece of work, and out of the three this semester I would say this is my favorite.

Time to Render!

Its 23:16 and I'm rendering out the final draft of my title sequence. This has been a long, hard, but most importantly a challenging project. One of which I am extremely proud of what I have managed to produce, and how much I stuck to my original ideas and origins for the original concept of which being based on the "Spider-Man 2" titles. We will see what my classmates and teachers have to say on Tuesday when everyone’s work is presented throughout our I.T session.

During the last week I have been tweaking and fine tuning this project to near perfection.

It’s proved harder than I thought it would have of to be honest, but I am very near completion, and with only a final few bits of masking to do, and a little text segment at the end, I should hopefully have my project rendered out and uploaded by Sunday night.
